The new MCT
360-WP and it’s forerunner,
the MCT 300-WP are dedicated wood product gauges, they incorporate
an integrated cooling panel, an air purge diffuser and utilize
a well proven algorithm which works on a wide range of wood
varieties and forms. The MCT
360-WP can measure moisture within a wide range of products
but will require different calibrations if the gauge is to
be moved to a different location.
If owing to potentially hazardous
dust accumulation, a zone 22 gauge is required, PSC offers
the ATEX 22-MCT 360.
The MCT 230-BT is a low cost benchtop
gauge that has been recently added to Process Sensors NIR
range. It provides instantaneous moisture readings for wood
chips or finer wood particles, and eliminates the bias in
moisture readings induced by the small unrepresentative samples
typically presented to a moisture balance.
Depending upon the installation location, one or more of the
following may be necessary;
a vortex cooler, heat
loss sensors, sight
glass and sample
Gauge Outputs, Operator Interface
360-WP is available with or without a local operator interface
or display as all the processing is carried out within the
sensor head and the measurement is output via 4-20mA, 0-10V,
RS232, RS485 or any bus. Installation time and effort is minimised
by dispensing with a local OI, but should samples be collected
for cross checks an OI is useful... in this event, one could
be simply plugged into the gauge at the sampling location.
In addition to moisture, resin content can also be monitored
as a “Trend Measurement”, essentially the gauge
will respond to an increasing or decreasing percentage but
owing to the difficultly of performing an accurate calibration
the gauge value cannot be taken to be the actual percentage.
Gauges are delivered pre-calibrated
using samples held at our manufacturing facility, or using
customer samples. The accuracy is application dependent, ranging
from +/- 0.1% to +/- 0.5% .
