Multiple Displays Now Available

Process Sensors Guardian Web Display System allows multiple transmitter profiles to be input and displayed on a single screen.  The Guardian allows converters to measure adhesive coat weight or thickness, paper moisture at the inlet and exit of dryers and immediately after re-moisturizing stations to maintain web flatness and minimize edge curl.

The Guardian can also measure film thickness and hot melt adhesive.  The MCT360 Near Infrared (NIR) transmitter is accurate and requires virtually no maintenance.  The analog outputs can be used to control applicator roll, web speed, die bolt pressure, or steam curtain zone actuators.

Cross Direction Web Profile

The Guardian Cross Direction Web Profile System consists of an MCT360 Near Infrared (NIR) Transmitter mounted on an automatic industrial scanning frame with built-in position encoder, industrial PC and easy to operate software. 

The MCT360 employs near infrared light at defined wavelengths for water and hydrocarbon measurements.  Moisture and water based coatings are measured at the O-H wavelength and organic coatings and film thickness are measured at the C-H wavelength.  These measurements are mapped across the web to provide a zoned web profile. 

The industrial PC can be packaged into an operating console, arm bracket, or wall mount configuration.  The software is designed to be easy to view and understand.  The system features alarms, alerts, and digital interface for archiving data.  The Cross Direction Web Profile System zone and web widths, scanning speed, and product recipes are all selectable through operator setup.  These recipes can also be selected through an Ethernet connection from a remote central operating station.  Multiple measurements and web profiles can be displayed on a single large screen.  Data is output for each zone and the web profile average.  The system can also be set up for machine direction trends when a specific zone needs to be monitored. 

Moisture, coat weight, and film thickness on paper, film, foil, metal, textiles, and board products are all good applications for the web profile system.  Liquid Application Systems and Steam Re-Moisturizer web profiles can be automatically controlled with the outputs.   Coating operations can benefit from the web profile measurement with faster start up times and reduced scrap.  Moisture measurement at the dryer exit reduces energy costs.

The Guardian System utilizes the MCT-360 Coat Weight Transmitter to measure water based coatings. The water in the coating absorbs at 1.94 microns and allows easy measurement of the coating applied to paper, nonwovens, film, foil, metal, and other substrates. The Guardian System traverses the web on an automatic scanner providing zone averages, web average measurement, and roll reports.
